Page Peel

If you take a look at upper-right corner of this page, you’ll see neat advertisement represented as folded paper. When you hover it with mouse, a big (real) advertisement will show.

This plugin adds new Web 2.0 flash Page Peel Ad to your WP powered blog. It preloads big image so you won’t get delay before displaying image when you hover ad like in ordinary Page Peel scripts. Plugin is highly configurable, so you can configure almost every aspect of it by going to Settings » Page Peel Options.

AVrAmTAR avatarAvram, Love the page peel. Quick question, even though I’ve changed the settings – the link still goes to instantupdate.com site. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Ken

AVrAmTAR avatarIf you have saved settings (URL is displayed on settings page) then go to your blog page and press shift+refresh… that should clear the cache and point you to your URL. Also, you might want to open yourblogurl.com/wp-content/plugins/page-peel/pagepeel-js.php and shift+refresh that page. This could help too.

AVrAmTAR avatarAwesome plugin! Is there anyway to get this to work with IE?

  4. comment number 4 by: Avram

AVrAmTAR avatarDon’t know. Original page peel (from which I’ve made plugin) works in IE, but I cannot debug JS code in IE to see what’s the problem with JS in my plugin (anyone knows good IE JS debugger?)…

AVrAmTAR avatar(website under construction ) Not only that it does not work with IE , it also disables the LIGHTBOX plugin that i use .. :-) I will dig into the code later to see what’s going on ..

  7. comment number 7 by: Avram

AVrAmTAR avatarYou can notice that I’m using both Lightbox2 plugin and Page Peel plugin on this website. They work fine together.

AVrAmTAR avatarLove the plugin, I just have one question… Why did it stop working? I installed it and it worked fine. I didn’t change anything and one day it just stopped showing on my site. I checked both image links in the preferences and they were both pointed to the correct image still. Any ideas on a fix?

  16. comment number 16 by: Avram

AVrAmTAR avatarI have no idea. Have you installed any other plugins? When I load script file from your website into blank HTML page ad is not shown, but when I include same script from my website – ad is shown correctly. Make sure that all files of plugin are correctly uploaded… or try to reinstall plugin. I have no other ideas.

AVrAmTAR avatarWots up rasta…. I have already successfully installed and used “maxiblogpresses unblockable pop up”, and I have just installed a configured your page-peel (I am using the lightbox option)- however I think there is a conflict. Please can you tell me a solution and I will give you some great reggae links and some mp3s for ya…..? Matt

AVrAmTAR avatarGreat plugin. I just upgraded to 2.5.1, and I’m wondering if it is compliant. I installed, and it appears in the CP just like in 2.5, but nothing on the page. Thanks a million for the plugin. I’m hoping I didn’t render it unusable for me by upgrading……

AVrAmTAR avatarThank you for this plugin. I just want to use it to show favourite picturez. It’s working on IE 7.0 with the code just under the head but the “tag:” of the code appears on my page and my document is no more valid Xhtml. grrr :-D I hope one day it will be fixed.

AVrAmTAR avatarHi I was using this plugin for a while but the lack of IE support has driven me to http://www.webpicasso.de/blog/pageear-free-peel-away-ad/ its a very simililar plugin perhaps even with a bit more functionality and its cross browser compatible.

  24. comment number 24 by: Matt

AVrAmTAR avatarGreat plugin! It is working fine in IE for me. My problem is in Firefox. On the Page Peel corner, the links that fall under it will not work in Firefox. All links under the large 650×650 image space won’t work even with the Page Peel closed.

  25. comment number 25 by: Mike

AVrAmTAR avatarHi Avram, What do I need to do to modify the website that the big picture goes to, it keeps going to instant-update.com. My website is michaeladeniyi.com and you can see the peel there. Thanks

AVrAmTAR avatarThank you for this plugin :-) It works great! Is it posible to change that the link in page peel open in the same window and not in a new window? How can i change it?

  28. comment number 28 by: Antti

AVrAmTAR avatarI had the same IE issue which I solved this way: 1. copy script line from the page. It should read something like this: 2. Deactivate Page Peel -plugin from the WP admin panel. 3. Paste copied line in header.php, just after tag. Works fine in both FF and IE. Thanks to Avram for the plugin!

  29. comment number 29 by: Antti

AVrAmTAR avatarThe page won’t display the script line. Anyway, you will find it if you view source-code from your own page and look for “page-peel”

  30. comment number 30 by: Avram

AVrAmTAR avatarI don’t understand you. You are pasting line after which tag in header.php?
    Thanks for IE solution :)

And yes, EightyOne, I think that target _blank is hardcoded into SWF file of page peel AD and that it can not be changed. Sorry :(

  34. comment number 34 by: Avram

AVrAmTAR avatarMy plugin does not add any “share this” thing in the upper left corner of your websites. I don’t really know what are you talking about? Could you please provide URL of your website?

  39. comment number 39 by: Avram

AVrAmTAR avatarHey can you check it out for me. It’s not loading. I right click in that area and I get the flash option, but nothing is displaying… Please help

  42. comment number 42 by: Erik K

AVrAmTAR avatarI too am having the Share This appear at the top of my site. With the Share This plug-in active, a small share this is appearing at the top center of my page. I have turned off all automatic applications of this plug-in and have hand-coded where it belongs. It also shoves my entire design down about 25 pixels. If I turn off one plug-in or the other, all is fine. There seems to be some sort of incompatibility between the two.

  43. comment number 43 by: Lillie

AVrAmTAR avatarI am using the plugin but when the corner peels, my flash header still shows on top of the “peel page” so I cannot see the entire peel ad. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

AVrAmTAR avatarDid I place the pagepeel line in the correct spot? This is the SEO Theme. I’ve had problems with page peels on my sites (not only yours and not only WP. Used to be they were all working and one day (months ago)… poof! All were gone. <html xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml” >

  48. comment number 48 by: Matt

AVrAmTAR avatarDon’t know what happened above, the page peel line was placed after this one (I had provided a larger part of the script).

AVrAmTAR avatarhello. i already install ur page peel. but how to change to my own

  53. comment number 53 by: Sovereignjon

AVrAmTAR avatarAvram first I got to say that you have the Best page peel for WP period….I tried others that completely wrecked by theme and broke it up! Literally, I spent ALL day trying to get a page peel on one of my niche sites. In total frustration I came back to your WP plugin. I should note that I was lucky to have stumbled upon your plugin first, but in frustration in trying to get it to work on IE 8 from using comment Anti’s method on comment number 28. I gave up and got the other peel away S–T to try…So, as mentioned above I now again have your plugin activated, and so I am writing to ASK you in how to get your plugin to work on IE, since a good majority of my traffic users are IE users. Simply just tell me the exact code that you can put after the “Body”-tag. since I looked and could not find any for your plugin? I even checked the source and still could not find a thing….enlighten me please. Thank you in advance.

  54. comment number 54 by: Sovereignjon

AVrAmTAR avatarHey, could NOT wait for an IE answer so I got the peelawayads.com script and put it on my sight with zero problems…Now I can back to peace of mind! peace out!

AVrAmTAR avatarAm I doing something wrong here? I loaded up the plugin, resized both the big and small images, loaded the images into the pagepeel folder on my ftp, changed the url in the pagepeel settings, cleared my cache, and I still have nothing showing up. Do I need to fiddle with any coding in the plugin editor?

  60. comment number 60 by: Avram

AVrAmTAR avatarNo, it should work without any coding in the plugin editor. Not in IE, though :/

AVrAmTAR avatarHi for the IE trouble i edited the line number 150 in the pagepeel.php file changin´ only one word. add_action (”wp_header”, “pagepeel_addjs”); for add_action (”wp_footer”, “pagepeel_addjs”); the system write the path on the beginning of the your footer template i tested in the ikaruswhite template and the default template and works good but test in the eGammer template and doesn’t work.

  64. comment number 64 by: jimmykane

AVrAmTAR avatarHey guys. i’ve solved that IE problem with: 1-Open the page with Firefox; view the source; and find the peel script line and copy it.. 2-Go to admin panel and disactive the Peel plugin. 3-Go to header.php of your theme and paste the line that you’ve copied just after the body tag. and now it works both IE and Firefox. 75. comment number 75 by: silviu

AVrAmTAR avatarI believe this plugin is useless. too many people are using IE. try to get deeper into the problem, get a IE decoder and fix this. otherwise, is just a nice toy for Firefox/Safari.

  76. comment number 76 by: Matt

AVrAmTAR avatar@silviu, Don’t be a douche… If it’s useless, don’t give it your 2 cents. This is a really helpful plugin. After struggling with other page peels, this one is awesome. There was a solution posted #28. For everyone except silviu here is how to get to work in IE: For some reason the script tags that get added by the plugin into the head tags do not work with IE. So active the plugin and see if it works in FF. If it does, do a view source and you will see the script tags for the plugin. Do a search for “wp-content/plugins/page-peel/pagepeel-js.php” and you will see the script tags. Copy the script tags and then in your wordpress theme file, open the header file and paste that code right below the body tag. Then go into the plugin file pagepeel.php and comment the line #34. When you comment it out, it will not add to the head section anymore. Now it will work in FF, IE, Chrome, Silviu’s mom
